Asselyn Jan (161052).

Dutch painter. After visiting Rome he began to paint Italianate landscapes in the manner of Claude Lorrain,
being one of the 1 st in Holland to do so. His best-known, though not his most characteristic, work is
The Angry Swan, an allegory of Dutch independence.
