Aved Jacques


 

 

Aved Jacques (1702-66).

French portrait painter who studied in Amsterdam and unlike his French contemporaries usually painted his subjects in their normal dress and surroundings. He urged his friend *Ghardin to take up portraiture and their work has sometimes been confused.
