Berlinghiero [Berlingerius] Berlinghieri

( fl 1228; d before 1236).

His oeuvre has been reconstructed on the basis of a Crucifix (Lucca, Villa Guinigi) from the monastery of S Maria degli Angeli, Lucca, signed Berlingerius me pinxit. Numerous attributions based on this work include the Madonna di sotto gli organi (Pisa Cathedral), a Virgin and Child (Raleigh, NC, Mus. A.) and a small folding triptych with the Virgin and Child (ex-Stoclet priv. col., Brussels; Cleveland, OH, Mus. A.).
