Dirck van Baburen

 

Baburen Dirck van

(c. 1590—1624).

Dutch painter, one of the principal members of the Utrecht school. For a short period he worked in Rome, where he was affected by the work of Caravaggio; he was one of the first to introduce Caravaggio's chiaroscuro technique into the Netherlands. Tenebrist.
